Happy 1st Birthday Felix!

[Editor’s note: I’ve been trying to post pictures on this blog in order, but as you all can tell I’m a bit behind. However, today is Felix’s birthday and I wanted everyone to see some pictures of the birthday boy! I will try to get back to filling in the rest of the photos soon.]

Happy birthday Felix! It is so hard to believe a whole year has passed by already. It is amazing how far you have come and how much you have grown. You are becoming a happy, curious little boy and are no longer a little baby anymore. Mom and Dad love you very much!

Tummy time progress

Along with sitting up, Felix is getting better on his tummy too. Still no interest in rolling over or moving around yet though.

Feet fanatic

Felix has finally discovered his feet! Now he’ll grab onto them when he’s laying on his back – especially on the changing table. Sometimes he doesn’t seem to know where they went to when he has socks on, but they’re definitely up in the air if he’s got bare feet!

Starting school

Felix began daycare this week and is already learning new things….like how to sit up in a bumpo seat! He has three nice ladies to take care of him and there are seven other babies in the nursery. There’s lots to see and do there, along with his favorite way to nap – swinging in a swing.

3 months old

Felix is 3 months old today….AND he slept through the night for the first time last night. We’re so proud of him – what a big boy!

Mirror mirror

Felix had his two-month checkup yesterday. He is now 13 lbs. 11 oz. and 24″ long! That puts him in the 100% percentile for weight (he’s actually above the 100% line), and 97% percentile for height. He’s gonna be a big boy! Not bad for a premie…he caught up real quick.

Even though he’s big for his age, developmentally he still lags behind a bit…that’s okay though because with premies you have to adjust your expectations and calculate his progress based on his due date, not his birth date.

His latest development is that he is finally seeing a bit farther and has discovered his crib mirror. He’ll now lay there and talk to the reflection! It’s a bonus for us because it keeps him busy for a bit, but we have to be careful not to leave him there too long because he’ll babble and kick himself into a frenzy. We’ve now learned to take the mirror down at night, otherwise he will wake up and then get rilled up looking at that “other baby.”
