Chillin' with dad on the couch

Seeing Felix’s eyes is still a rare occurrence, but he tends to open them a bit when you burp him. Wonder if he’ll keep his blue eyes like his daddy?

Let's see those baby blues!

Woo-hoo! We passed the overnight feeding test and Felix can finally come home with us!

Last morning in the hospital....waiting to be discharged.

It's official...the nurse is cutting off the security tags that will set off alarms if he exits the maternity floor.

Leaving the hospital

Wheeling him out of the entrance.

We can hardly believe we finally get to drive away with him! It was during a big thunderstorm, which was a little nerve wracking for dad.

Felix took to the car seat right away and happily sucked his pacifier all the way home.

Sleeping soundly...at home at last.

Mom was called back to the hospital on day 9 to stay in a room overnight with Felix (just like a full-term momma would). If he ate well and didn’t lose weight by morning, we could take him home!

Sitting with Felix in a hospital room. This is the first time he was out of the special care nursery and the first time we were able to hold him without lots of wires hooked up to machines hanging off him....it was a really nice change.

We've both been working on getting swaddling down since he finds it so comforting. Mom was pretty proud of this attempt.

The exciting news today was that Felix was finally taken off his IV drip. Now it was just a matter of him gaining enough weight through regular feeding to go home.

Can't get enough photos of Felix sleeping in our arms!

Still hooked up to machines...but still nice to hold.

Open eyes! Dad leans in to say hello.

Still visiting daily to get in our Felix fix.

Our daily visits to the nursery continue. Today mom got to try breastfeeding with Felix for the first time. It’s gonna take a little practice for both to get it down, but it went really well considering he’s only been fed by IV or bottle so far.

Daily cuddle time with mom.

After mom got out of the hospital, we returned every day to visit Felix…staying as long as mom could stand to be sitting in a chair and not hurt her stitches too much.

When we will be able to take you home?

Working hard at catching up.

Dad tries his hand at bottle feeding.

Dad admiring his little boy.

So tiny compared to dad's hands.

Mom gets in a final hug before she gets discharged from the hospital. Don't want to go home without you!

Two days old...look at all that red hair! So cute!
